The "Daily Times" of tie 6th instant reports : — There lias been a little more life in the transactions of the past week, though business has not recovered the activity which was displayed in the earlier part of the winter, and which may again be expected as the spring season approaches. A few considerable 6ales have taken place, but the bulk of the trade has been in small parcels for sorting up stocks. The flour market is quiet, and wears a somewhat depressed aspect, although no operations of sufficient magnitude to effect any alteration in price have taken place. The supply of provincial is still good, and the demand for mi"--p j. fc dis much lc ssned. The s 113 of bacon and hams (which are to hand in full supply) is just now checked, and, although importers would be willing to acoept much c reduced values, there is little probability of any sales, until the damaged parcels now on the market have been cleared off. In other provisions there is also little doing, cheese, which is selling at Is 4d to Is 6d, being an exception. Colonial cheese realises Is 2d to Is 2|d. Butter rather easier The sales of shipments of bulk ales (M'Ewen's) ex Viola and King of Trumps, aro reported at prices fully maintained, but there is scarcely anything worth notice doing in bottled beers. A fair enquiry for brandies has been kept up, and sales of Mar toll's (entire shipments) have been reported at about last quotation. Teas have been dealt in at slightly better prices, and the market hw a teudeaoy to farthw improvement .
