RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. (Before G. G. FitzGerald, Esq., R.M.)
v Friday, August 10. The R. M.'s Court could not commence business until 1 p.m., as the Warden was in occupation of the room up to that hour. Drunkenness and Disobdeblt Conduct. — Jessie Gilmore was fined 5s and 15s respectively, or in default 48 hours' imprisonment with hard labor. A further charge of using obscene and abusive language was brought against Jessie Gilmore, for which she was fined L 2, or in default four days' imprisonment. Burglary. — Stephen Roberts, brought up on this charge, was remanded until. Monday, the 13th August. Assault. — Denis Dooley was charged by John Raffertj' with assaulting him, on the evening of Thursday, the 2nd in3t., by placing his closed fist under his right ear. There was no appearance of defendant, and a warrant was ordered to issue for his apprehension. Breach of Police Ordinance. — Harry Hawkesford was charged by John Rafferty with using language towards him calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. The defendant came into Court drunk, and was ordered to be locked up for twenty-four hours. CIVIL CASES. Moffat v, Furket. — Mr Button appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Rees for tne defendant. PlaintifF was nonsuited. In the case of Peters v. Slater, which was heard on the 9th inst., judgment was given for the plaintiff for LlO and coats. Lees v. Rogers. — For money lent and goods supplied. Mr Rees appeared for the plaintiff, for whom judgment was given for L2l Is and costs. Rogers v. Lees. — For wages. Mr Rees appeared for the plaintiff. Judgment was given for Lsl 5s and costs. Nathan v. O'Donnell. — Mr South appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Button for the defendant. The plaintiff claimed the sum of LIOO damages for an assault committed upon him by defendant, whereby the plaintiff suffered considerable damage, both by loss of time and expense incurred for nursing and medical attendance. Judgment was reserved in this case until to-day. The Court adjourned until eleveu o'clock to»day, ! •
