The P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Company's s.s. Rangitoto loft for Nelson on Saturday afternoon with twenty-five passengers and a few packages of original cargo from Melbourne, which she waa unable to tranship. Tie P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Company's s.s. Eg- , mont arrived at this port, from Sydney, on Saturday last, after a pleaiant run of six days. She brought a few passengers and some cargo, which were safely transhipped by boats into the p.s. Yarra, notwithstanding a heavy sea was running at the time. The Egmont left the same day for Nelson. During the greater part of la3t week the surf was unusually light, and the bar in a I most; favorable condition for the passage of vessels across it. The arrivals and departures were numeious, and the greatest nctivity prevailed in consequence. At present the wharf is well lined with shipping, busily employed discharging cargos wliich are turning out most satisfactorily. This is the more surprising, as all the late arrivals experienced the full force of the tempestuous weather which kept the port locked up the week before lasi. The Mary, brigantine (belonging to Messrs Spence Bros.), which sailed for Melbourne ou Saturday, landed a full freight of pei-ish-ablo goods in splendid condition, and the barque Alma, also their property, is placing her cargo on the wharf in as good order as the day it was shipped. That regular trader to the port, the Jane Lockhart, after losing her deck load on the passage from Sydney, yet turned out the goods under hatches dry as bone dust. In fact silks might ha", c been stowed between the combings and no damage resulted to them. The long passage made by the Isabella, from Dunediu, occasioned dismal forebodings that shippers and consignee! would be heavy losers through damagr We are, however, happy to state that these anticipations are not realised, as her cargo is landing in first-rate condition.
