(to the editor of the west coast times.) Sir, — Having seen a letter in your paper of the 29th hist., signed T. Munro, in which that gentleman claims the bringing the " Fire Brigade" into existence, as one of the Improvement Committee's laborious works, I distinctly deny that the Improvement Committee or its members, with the exception of one, ever had any connection in any manner with bringing the brigade into existence. I should havo thought a gentleman having tho honor of being secretary for both institutions should have known better than have made such a-state-ment.
