Tho Bcliooner rrincess Alexandra left Christchurch on tho 9th instant, with light southerly airs uud fine wcatlfer. Tho next day, however, tho brcezo freshened and increased to a smart gale, which carried her through Cook's Strnits, but when almost abreast of Stevens Island it died away, and hence to Hokitika roads light easterly weather was experienced. Tho Princess Alexandra arrived off the bar on tho 19th, and was towed to tho wharf by tho Yarra tho same day. Sho brings a cargo of colonial produce. This fine schooner, which may be classed amongst our constant traders, has, considering the season, mado a fair run from Lyttelton. On tho third day out slio clearod the Straits, and, had hot tho breoze unfortunately failed her, would have mado the passage in a little over four days. An unusually thick mist hung over tho port yesterday, rendering tho navigation somewhat perilous. Several vessels, however, crossed the bar in tow of the different tugs, tho Yarra bringing in the Jfrinceßs Alexandra, whilst tho Lioness towed out tho Cosmopolite and Aurora, ( and tho Ohallonge the Hector. Tho Challenge reports 11 foeb of water on tho bay and a Btraight run out.
