Laid at anchor out'sido until tho tide sewed, when she ran across tho bar ot 11 p.m., discharged some passengers and cargo, and loft at 1 a.m. the next day, having only stayed insido two hours. After a fino morning's run, sho arrived at tho whivf at 11 a.m. Throughout tho passago from Nelson (hio weathor. was experienced. Tho Kennedy brings a full general cargo and 120 sheep on deck. Sho reports tho s.s. Thane loading up ut Nel6on for Hokitika.
The schoonor Isabella Jackson loft Lyttelton on tho 4th ins!., wiih variable and unsettled weather, which continued until the Bth, when tho wind settled into the N.W., and blew a heavy galo for 86 hours, during which tho vessel labored heavily and shippe.l much wator. On tho 9th, sho passed Stevens Island, and Capo Farewell uoxt day, and honco to Hokitika roads variable winds and "a heavy eouthorly swoll prevailed. Tho Isabella Jack' son was picked up by the Lioness on tho 18th, having made tho land off the. bar that morning, and convoyed safely insido. She brings a full general cargo, but no passengers.
The bar yesterday was everything that could bo desirod, tho channel being straight out with fourteen feet of water in it, and vory littlo surf running. Several vessels crossed in tow of tho harbor boats, aad the Konuody arrived from Nelson. Tho departures, ,is can be seen, wero less numerous, tho Wallaby only leaving tha # rivor, and tho s.s. Airedalo tho roadstead. Taking advantage of thd lattor's sailing, soveral gcutlomon left for tho " old country," via Panama. Wo sincerely trust the lino will be woll patronised, ns it is infinitely preferable to tho round about way via Point do Gallc, Aden, &c, &c.
The schooner Spray left Christ church on May 3lßt, with westerly winds and Jlno weather."" On tho 4th instant she sighted Cape SWlwind, having made an oxccllont run round tho land of four duys and a-lrnlf, but there sho unfortunately fell in with a heavy S.W. gale, which kept hor hovo to under very reduced canvass for fivo days. Tho gale was accompanied with heavy thunder, lightning, and rain, and an exceedingly ugly high sea, which caused the vessol to labor so much that eho becamo leaky and had to bo pumped out overy tyvo horn's. On the 10th tho galo abated, and hauled into tho S.E., which,, carried her up to Rooks Point, whon it again blew up from tho S.W. for four days, but not bo heavy as to compel her to heave to. Sho kept undor tho lnnd aud worked along it, although making but littlo progress until it shifted into tho 5.15.. which slant sent her up abrcst of tho bar on tho 17th, and next day boing. attended to by tho Challenge crossed tho bar without mishap. Tho Spray brings ,a cargo of colonial produco.
Tho schooner Elizabeth Curio loft Lyttelton on the 12th instant, with light S.W. broozes and fine weather. On tho 14th, pnssod Stevens' Island, nnd rounded Cope Farewell tho day after. Was abreast of tho Gi-oy at 0 a.m. oh tho 18th, and tho samo afternoon towed safely to tho wharf astern of tho Challenge She experienced light variables weather from Cape Farowoll, and brings a cargo of colonial produco and 75 pigs.
