Unexpected as it was to receivo this fla+.toring proof of your confidence, I am not at present prepared to lay before you my political views. All I beg to assure you is, that if elected, I shall dovoto my time to tho general good of Westland, and shall watoh eagerly ovor tho interests of tho mining community as over thoso of tho inhabitants of tho towns, with both of arlroh I am, as you aro well aware, intimately connected. I hope to havo frequent opportunities of communicating with you personally before tho day of election, and conferring with you on tho most urgent requirements of the district.
