Moorhouse and myself for the representation of Westland in the General Assembly, that no one can bo better pleased at my defeat than I am myself, and that I sincerely rejoice at the return of my opponent, who, at tho time, was a stranger to most of us, but in whom I recognise an able and staunch advocate of our common interests, and through whom, with tho aid of a respectable and influential Council, Hokitika cannot fail to advance.
