Yesterday His Honor the Superintendent ontored upon his duties and and the old Executive at once resigned. The following aro tho new appointments made : — Tancrod, President ; Stewart, Provincial Secretary and Secretary of Public Works ; Garrick, Provincial Solicitor. Caes is at present without office. //■ _____ (VROU THE CHRIBTOHUBCH PAPEEB.) Dunkdin, June 4. Bouchier, late rate collector, for einbez7.letnent, has been sentenoed to two years with hard labour. Calendar finished. Juno 6. A special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held this afternoon. Large attendance. Tho subjects discussed were tho Tariff and the Insolvency laws. The resolutions recently passed in favor of an " ad valorem" duty on jewellery, &c., were rescinded. A committee was 'appointed to report on tho Insolvency law. Discussion took place whether it should be based on the English or Scotch system. It was eventually resolved that the principles of the present law should be adhered to.
