Tho s.s. Clnud Hamilton left Nelson at 4 a.m. on tho 23rd instant, and reachod Greymouth at daylight, where sho landed snvoral passengers per p.s. Persevere, and arrived off Hokitika yesterday. She had fine weather, with light head winds prevailing, throughout the passage. From 11 p.m. on tho 23rd blio was kept under half-speed, so as to reach Greymouth by daylight. Wo are sorry to hear that tho Claud Hamilton, which is so favorably known for her punctuality, as well aa the urbanity of her commander, is about to bo taken off the West Coast line, and placed on the East Coast line. The p.s. Bruce <loft Hokitika on Tuesday, 22nd inst., at 5 a.m., arriving off ' Okarita at 11.30. She reports light winds and thick weather when she camo to anchor. At 6.30 steamed into the break, -and arrived safely in the river. Aftor discharging cargo, sho took the Phoenix and Three Brothers in tow, leaving them safely outside bound for Punedin. The .Bruce thon stearaod away for Hokitika, arriving off the Bar at 11.30— steaming into port this morning. Captain Kerley reports the bay iv bad condition. In consoquence of the Bovoro indiposition of this gentleman, tho proposed excursion to tho Grey has been indefinitely postponed. Tho e.s. Thane loft Napier with a cargo of cattlo and sheep for this port. After buffeting about for several days she put into Poverty Bay, and finally called at Wellington, from whence she sailed two days ago for this port. 'Tho rough weather sho experienced caused a very heavy loss in hor froight. The outter Volunteer left tho Manakau on on Sunday morning last, and experienced strong east winds until her arrival off Q-roy-mouth on Tuesday, from which placo blio had a fine run down, crossing the bar under" canvas yesterday. Sho is but twenty-ono days out from this port, and brings a general cargo of produce.
