Tuesday, 3 50 p.m. Arrived. — The Tararua from Sydney ; the Ahuriri from Wellington.
Sailed. — The Taranaki, for the South; the Phccbe for the North.
In the Supreme Court Mrs Spendlove tried for infanticide, was acquitted on the capital charge, but found guilty of concealment of birth, and sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment.
Slight shocks of an earthquake were felt here on Sunday night.
Shocks of an earthquake are also reported by tho T ararua to havo been felt at Mudgeo and tho neighborhood in New South Wales.
Sydney Commercial. ~ Flour, at mills, £17; Chilian wheat, 5s 5d to 5a 9d. Twenty-two thousand bushels of New Zealand oats, ex Yarra, sold at 5s 7d to 5s Bd. Rain was falling iii several districts. Sailed 19th, tho Wellington for Wellington.
The five condemned Maoris wero executed at Auckland on the 17th, for the murder of Mr Fulloon.
Twenty houses wero burnt down at Newton, Auckland, on the morning of the 15th.
There are no signs of tho Taranaki from Sydney,

CmtisTCiiuitcii, Tuesday, 3-36 p.m. The steamer Aucklandhas sailed with tho English mail for Northern ports.
A verdict for heavy damages was given by a jury, in the Court of Queen's Bench on February 24, in a case of compensation for a railway accident tried before the Lord Chief Justice. The Rev. Mr Eland and his wife were sufferers by the wellremembered Staplehurst accident, and it was proved in evidence that their injuries were of tho most serious character. The jury awarded damages to the extent of $4500. ■ f . r
