DUNEDIN.

Wo haro files to tho Bth instant. The 'Daily Times" reports as follows :—: — Dependent largely upon tho country demand, it is not surprising that tho late difliulty in obtaining carriages for supplies should avo materially lessened tho amount of business done during tho last and tho preceding week, and that Iho bulk of tho transactions for the timo should havo boon for oxport and town trade. Now, kowevor, that tho country trado i» again open, thoro will, doubtless, bo a tolerable manifestation of activity for somo timo to come. The market for 'breadatuffs has been vory quiet. No considerable sales of imported flours havo como under obsorvation. Buyers remaining unwilling to go into any largo operations with present prospects, and holders as yet keeping to last quoted prices. Provincial flour is now in vory tolerable supply, and with some prospect of foreign wheats finding their way to this market, tho supply may continue ample to meot the special demand for it. Oats, without having materially altered in price, have becomo dull of sale, and the possibility of American and colonial oats again reaching this port is inducing a desire on tho part of holders to part with their stocks. Bottled stout is in active demand j tho shipments of accoud rato stouts, which lately supplied tho markets, aro almost exhausted, and of Srst-class brands tho quantity on hand is very limited. Tho inquiry for lies in glass is languid, and no disposition is avinced to purchase beyond curront wants; (rices, however, in tho face of present short ihipments, ar» fully maintained. For newirew ales the market looks well ; and of tlio ihipmontß now expected raoßt have been )laced by importers, and resold to second inndi at improved rates.' Sugar buy»rs have seen supplied by auotion and privately. There is nothing of importance doing. Prices nay be considered as fully maintained. A teady demand for teas has been kept up, at rell maintained prices. The stock of low ongous has been eased by tho sale of a coniderable parcel for another port. Provisions •f all kinds continuo to maintain full prices, nd the demand for tho interior, now that tho aeons of forwarding is availablo, will most kely result in still higher values. In spirits nd wineß things have been quiet, though rat-clußs brandies havo improved in valuo. 'ho present small stocks warrant tho assumpion that firm, if not improved, prices will ulo.
