THE ENGLISH NEWS.
(FROM ' TELEGRAMS IN THE " ARGUS." Adelaide, April 12. The s.s. City of Melbourne, Captain Walker, arrived at Glenelg at 2 a.m. The upward passage to the Sound occupied ninety-one and a half hours ; return ditto, ninety-three hours. The Ellora ran from Melbourne to the Sound in 137 hours The steamer Bombay arrived in the Sound at 1 1 p.m. on the 7th instant. She left Galle at thirty minutes past 7 p.m. on the 24th March ; experienced fine weather; made the run from the Sound to Galle in twelve days six hours. Captain C. Burne, commander ; Captain Gosse in charge lof the mails ; A. Bailes, purser. Passengers. — For Adelaido : Mr and Mrs Murray, Messrs Bakewell and White, R.A. ; Mr, Miss, and Master Tonkin; Miss Cornish, Mrs Basden, Captains Venrennon, Rathson, and Crawford; Colonel Walpole, Messrs Lewis, Love, W. A. Dixon, Warren, R«eves, Webster, and Wright. For Sydney: Captain and Mrs Russell, Prince Decondo and friend, Mr Thomas R.N.E. ; T. B. Coe, Major Lynch, J. L. Tully, and J.H. Hood. The Mooltan steamer conveyed Lord Napier to Galle, en route to assume the Governorship of tho Madras Presidency, relieving . Sir William Donison. While on board, he atated that Sir Charles Darling was to be recallod. Tho latest English papers do not now discuss Victorian difficulties. It is rumored that it is not improbable that Sir William Denison goes to Melbourne.
