The Kennedy, s.s., Whitwcll, ronrnandnr, left Nolson on' tho 12th at mid • .-slit, with strong S.W. breezes and fine weutlur. On rounding tho sand spit she wn's met by tho full force of a still 1 gale, which induced her ro bring up under the spit until tho weather moderated. The anchor was lot go on the 13th at two a.m. The next day, the gfilo having somewhat abated, she got under weigh, and at 9 a.m. passed Capo Farewell, but lho gale ngain freshening from S.W., sho wns compelled to slew her brondsido to it, and stand off shore. All day on the 14th sho stood off and on shoiv under canvas and onsy steam, and the next morning, as tho gale continued lanabntedly, and her fuel run short, sho put into West Wauganui, coining to an anchor in the Inlet nt 9 a.m. Hero she remained that day, in tho meantime obtaining two boat loads of coal, and at noon on the lGth tho galo having blown itself out, sho again put to / sea. Rock's Point was passed at 4- p.m., aud tho Steeples at midnight, when tho brcezo once more freshened from tho westward, accompanied by heavy rain and a chop sen, and at 6,30 a.m. she was abreast of tho Grey, and at 9 a.m, on tho 17th Hokitika bar was crossed and tho whavf reached safely. Tho Kennedybrings a general cargo, 120 sheep, and 4 calves. Reports having passed tho Wallabi off Rock's Point, standing go tho north. Yesterday morning tho Keera, s.s., left Nolson for I) uuediu. During her Btay thoro aho was placed upon tho cradle and her bottom well cleaned, and the vessel repainted. The brigautine Colonist, from Sydney, hovo in sight off tho port yesterday just an hour too late on tide. Sho signalled that sho hud mails on board, and also a number of fomalo passengers. Tho s.s. Wouga Wonga arrived at Groymouth yesterday from Nelson and Wellington. Yesterday information,pcrtolegram, reached town from Nelson, to tho effect that tho Claud Hamilton would leave that port for Hokitika at 9 a.m. to-day. She may, thereforo bo expected to arrive here to-morrow, and if eho does, and saves tho tido, will bo despatched for Nelson and Northern Ports tho same day, according to tho notice which appears in another column.
