Monday, 9th Awm,. Lunacy. — John Shea was charged with being of unsound mind, and was remanded until the 12th instant for medical examination. ASSAUI/rtNG A CoNSTAnLK IN TIIK EXKCUtion op uis^DuTv: — John Barrett was charged byConstable O'Brien with assault l .- }ng him on the morning of the 2nd instant It appeared that two men 'were fighting in Revell-street, and that one of them kicked the other in a disgraceful manner. On the constable applying for admittance in the Queen's name into the prisoner's house, where the offender had taken.refuge, the prisoner opened the door and struck him in the face. The prisoner stated that ,• he'did not,know the prosecutor was a constable as he was dressed in plain clothes, and there being a great noise in the house ■ at the time he did not hear him demand entrance in the Queen's name. The Resident Magistrate remarked that, whether th,e man was a constable or not, he had no right to strike him, and fined him £2.
