That vessel at once proceeded to get up steam, but just as Bho wus ready to start a heavy mist arose and enveloped ttio town and coast, and so intonso did it become that objects were not to bo distinguished a cablo's length ahead. Crossing tho bar in such a fog was out of the question, bo- she eased her steam and remained at tho wharf waiting for a change. When just as all hope of her leaving that night was departing, the mist thinned, and shortly after dispersed. They embarked their detachments oarly in tho wcok, and tho ■Grab to got away was tho Pcroy, Capt. Weathorburn, with a full cargo of wool, gum, produce, &0., 14,500 oz. gold, and tho following troops: — Colonel Morant (in command), Dr and,, Mrs Mouatt, Major Kirby, Captains draco and Casement, Lieutenant and Adjutant Butler (wounded), Dr Codrington, Lieu- ' tenants Bolden, Robloy, Hood, and Caldicutt, Ensigns Clifford, Woodworth, and Paice, Quarter-master Sladden, and 400 rank and filo, women, children, and invalids. Tho Percy was followed during tho day by tho barque Ballarat, Captain Allan, which vessel was towed out to sea by the p.s. Waitomata, she also takes a large and valuable cargo of wool, gum, produce, &c., and tho following troops :— Colonel Greer (in command), Capt. Jackson, Captain Soymour, Surgeon Major Best, Ensigns Green, Eldorton, and Woodward, and 380 rank and filo, wop en, children, &c., of the 68th Regiment. Both theso vessels have loft .'n fine sailing trim, and wo wish thorn a speedy passage homo to Old Englaud."
