Monday, March 12. Petroleum in a crude form has been found in quantity on the Coorong. The settlers by petition are attempting to obtain such terms as will enable them to open up the Arid desdft country between tho Murray, Coorong, and Victoria. The corn market is very firm, 8s being given readily for wheat, either in town or port.. Flour not to be obtained .except at an advance on lato transactions. Town millers ask L2O, country LlB 10s to Ll9s. March 13. General business very dull. No transactions. ' Wheat, nominal price, 8s; flour, LlB 10sto Ll9; Cape barley, 5s 6d; English, 6s to 6s 9d; Cape oats, for seed, 8s ; feed oats, 6s 6d. Sailed Aldinga. Wednesday. March 14. Tho Commissioner of Publio Works announced in the Legislative Council to-day that tlie Chief Secretary intended to leave for England at an early date His departure will greatly weaken, if not entirely break up, the Ministry. No alteration of prices in wheat or flour. Sales of wheat at Is. Holders generally ask an advance.
