landed passengers* on that' 1 day; and qn iho iic-xlj at; v i p.m., loft for Hokitika, wlioto sho arrived -at 3 p.ni.^'Xliiri'rtg'thc'.wholo trip most beautiful weathor prevailed. Tho Miskin brings a light general cargo. Relative to tho lato mishap to that vessel, Capt. Hepburn informs us that sho received a thorough overhaul in Nelson, whon it was found that oho plate only wa3 damaged, which was replaced by a new ono. Sho was also carefully surveyed, and her plates severely tested, tho rosult being that sho was pronounced sound, seaworthy, and in .excellent condition. Tho a!s. Wallabi loft Nolson ,on tho 17U\ instant, at 8 p.m., and after a romai'kably pleasant run arrived at tho Gray on tho 19fch. Sho remained thoro until tho 21st, — in tho meantimo discharging a few tous of cargo 5 aud on that date loft at 11 a.m., and arrived at this port at 1.30 p.m. The Wallabi brings about forty tons of mixod cargo. Uy tho Bruco, whioh arrived from Okarita yesterday, wo aro informed that tho onfcvanco to that rivor has much improved lately, tho 'ihaunel bl'ing both deouor aud less crookod. Captain Korloy reports that tho James Puxlon was, whon ho loft, still aground on the spit lately occupied by tho Challenge, but hoped to got oil' in a tide or two. Also that tho Thano, s.s. was atloat, aud had been haulod up tho river to tho ballasliug pound, whero sho was busily employed taking in her doad weight. It appoars that it is hor rudder aud not hor keel that is twisted, which was occasioned by tho chain cable gotting athwart the storu. 'JLHIO fan, howovor, will not work, so the Thane is to be towod out to sea and will bo taken round to Dunedin under canvas, and there dockod for repairs. AbkivaTj oi' the Souciiays.— Yesterday morning n telegraphic signal was hoisted at tho Observatory, on Wickham torrnco, showing that tho colonial mail steamship Souchays had returned from her experimental voyogo to tintavia, evidencing thereby thnt tho promise ,of hor captain on starting had been kopt. As a matter of courso, tho steamer, drawing too much, could not possibly como up to tho whaifalKrinbaiioj but sho anchored at tho bar about half-past 5 yesterday afternoon. Wo arc indobted to the kindness of Captain Blick for obtaining tho following particulars with roferonco to this ship :— Tho Souchays left tho anohorago in Moroton Bay at 5 p.m. on tho Bth January, and discharged Pilot Coopor at forty minutes past 7 o'clock off Moroton Island. On the 12th, tho ship reached Port Denison, after experiencing vory dirty weather. Sho left Port Donison on tho 13th, at twenty minutes to 6 p.m., and oame to an anchor tho same evening in 14 fathoms off tho North Palm 'lsland. Sho arrived at Port Albany on tho 18th ult., at twonty minutes past 10 a.m., aftor having beon at anchor every night since leaving Bowen. At ten minutes past 1 p.m. on tho 18th. sho proceeded on hor voyage, and experienced moro or less heavy or monsoon weathor until sho arrived at Batavia, on tho 30th January, at twonty minutes to 1 p.m. Tho ship remained at Batavia for six and three-quarter days leaving there on tho 6th February, at half-pasb 8 a.m. Thence favorable though light winds wcro oxperioncod as far as Somerset, tho ship avoraging ton knots per hour, and sho reached tho latter port on the 16th instant. On tho followi"g day, the ship started at ton minutes past 7 a.m., and arrived at *Port Donison at 6 p.m. on tho 22nd, after experiencing thick, rainy weather. Sho loft Port Denison on Friday, tho 23rd instant, arriving at tho Pilot Station at fifteen minutes past 1 p.m. yestorday, and at tho bar last ovening about hal - past 5 p.m. Wo understand that Captain Blick's reception at Batavia was very cordial, and that tho merchants and othor principal rosidonts of that town expressed great pleasure at tho probability which now oxists of tho institution of a permanent trade between that and other parts of tho eastern seas and tho continont of Australia. — Queensland Guardian, Feb. 27.
