Wo hoar of considerable sales of candles, some 3,600 boxes, light and full weights; various brands, having changed hands in parcels at JO.^d for tho former, and 18id to 13Jd for tho latter. A few hundred bags of medium to good counter sugars havo been disposed of at £38 to £39 10s., and browing crystals havo been quitted at £42. Bottled fruits havo boon in great request j and after tho sale of somo 300 boxes, at prices rising to 0s 3d, holders advanced the prices to 9s 6d. Tho arrival of tho Marguerito, from Calcutta, stimulated enquiries for gunnies, and upwards of 200 bales have, it is said, been disposed of, to land, at 11s. The rice, by tho satno vessel, 200 tons, comes to o bare market, and oilers havo boon sent in for tho whole of tho parcel. Thero is moro enquiry for salt, but only for trade purposes. About 160 tone coarse found buyers at £3 10s, and au Advance of Cs is now asked. Linseed oil shows increased firmness. \A parcel of 500 drums, half boiled and half raw, was quitted nt 4s (3d. In kerosene oil wo hear of no transactions j there aro no sellers' under 3s lid, and wo are informed that an oflbr for a largo quantity was refused, ovon at this figure In teas wo learn of sales of well on to 1,000 packages, chiefly chests of medium congous, at about Is lOd/duty paid. Tallow — Tho market has been thinly supplied, and tho lato high rates avo still maintained. At auction to-day 100 casks of tallow were sold by tho produce auctioneers at £45 5s to £52 2s 6d per ton. Hides are very dull of sale About 2,150 woro offered at auction, but not more than half this quantity found buyers. Prices ranged 4s to lfls each.' 1
