POLITICAL ON DITS.
It is reported that Mr Bcaloy has resigned tho Superintondency, preferring to bo out of ofilco , pending tho election of his successor. Mr Tnncrod is understood to have boon appointed ns his ddputy. We believe ifc is not likely that Mr Sale will return fo Holutika as Commissioner or repreflontativo of tho Government in Wostlcrad, or that if ho does so, it will be merely to cover tho interval which nmet elapse before tho now Superintendent and tho now Council are elected. Should tho result of tho presont contest for tho Superintondency bo tho electidn of Mr Moorhouso, there is overy reason to believo that one of the earliest acts of that gentleman will be to visit tho West Coast, and to appoint a competent government agent hero with tho fullest discretionary powers that tho law in its presont form enableß him to delegate. -It i 8 generally understood that the election of Mr Moorhouae will be fatal to any pretensions of tho present Commissioner to tho perpetuation of his arbitrary and autocratic rule on tho West Coast.
