Stocks on hands aro still heavy, with the exception of bacon, hams, cheese, and pickles, for which the demand is considerable Flour has received more attention, recent colonial and foreign advices having a speculative tendency. First Adelaide is worth L3O to L 32 per ton ; California!], extra fine, has been placed at L 27 per ton ; Chilian L 23 to L 24 ; holders of best brands of Chilian ask L2S per ton. Oats continue to improve ; best samples are worth 8s to 8s 6d per bushel. Bran, 3s per bushel' { Chaff is getting scarce, and in demand at L2l per ton. Hams and bacon being so scarce, a price cannot |be accurately quoted. A good parcol of Sinclair's or Cooy's could bo readily placed at 2s per lb. Colonial is in fair, demand at Is 6d per lb. Butter remains without improvement. Cheese continues scarce. In wines aud spirits thcro has not been much doing. There havo been somo inquiries for Martoll's palo Ijrnndy, other brands neglected. Quotations for brandy : — Martcll's, 9s por gallon ; Otard's, 83 Gd per gnllon 5 Henuessy's 8s 6d por gallon. Good brands of ale and porter aro moving off frooly nt lfis to 18s per dozen. In teas and sugars thero has not boon much doing, storokcopors only purchasing for present consumption.
