The p.s. Favorite was on firo at Wellington Wharf, but it was extinguished without much damage being done. Yesterday afternoon tho town was startled out of its propriety by suddon and unoxpoctcd intelhgence arriving from tho Grey, to tho oflbct that tho s.s. Star of tho Evening wns a total wreck, lying high and dry alongside tho unfortunato Nelson. Dotails wcro furnished to tho extent that she was discharging cargo as fust as possible, and would have to make tho overland journoy, &c, &c. A gentleman, however, who arrived in town last night from tho Groy has brought with him tho very v" latest intelligence" concerning tho above vessel, which, it appears, in attempting to enter the Groy yosterday morning, took the wrong channel, and grounded in consequence, on tho north beach, not for from tho Nelson ; but instead of becoming a total wreck managed to recover herself, and was, when our informant left, lying safely at anchor in tho roadstead.
