West Coast Times Office, Monday Evening 1 'Tlie'custoras • duties on imports received on Saturday amounted to L 1286 15s 2d, making the total amount of duties from the Ist to the 16 h of the month L 5.552 6s 2d, of which L 2.625 were paid during Thursday, Friday, and SatuYJay. No gold has been cleared for export to-day. The Kate brings later commercial advices from the Australian colonies. 6,962 ozs of gold from Nelson had reached Sydney by the Tararua. The Sydney papers of the 6th and 7th inst, contain no commercial news of importance. Late telegraphic advices from Melbourne and Adelaide will be found in another column. A telegram had been received from Melbourne, containing news from Mauritius, per Isabel, to the 28th October, and is to the following effect : — English telegram of 3rd October, rereived (in Port Louis) advising a further rise of Is on sugar. ' DUNEDIN. The Otago Daily Times of the 12th reports ;—; — Business has opened this week with a steady tut not extensive trade. A fair amount of goods is in course of despatch for the interior, and enquiry ' keeps good for most imported merchandise. In the flour market nothing has been done.
