Tho Argus of Saturday reports :— Since our last report the only additions to our stocks have been by the Floroncc, from Melbourne, with a general cargo ; and tho Bullitrat, p s., from Hokitika. the goods by the latter vessel consisting 1 principally of outsi«e articles, it being iinpossiblo to import, from the Hokilika market heavy goods of general consumption at a profit. Buainers during tho early part of the week was remarkably dull ; but with the flno weather of Wednesday and Thursday a brisk trade was done with tlio up-country and tho boacli store keepers. The news from all sources being of a highly favorable natmo, both as regards increase •of population and tbo richness and extent of tho Koldfields, ahd as a consequence tending to increase the conlidenco of both buyers and sellers. Our utocks of BOrae articles nre getting very low, ouch as flour, bacon, hams, 'butter, cheese, ko., the first article, as anticipated, continuing to advance in price, and may bo now quoted at nn advance of from two to four pounds per ton ; Chiliun, in 50 lb bags, L 35;3 5; Adelaide, L4B.
