IMPORTATION OF CATTLE.
The following lotter has been handed to us for publication :—: — Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, Bth Nov., 1805. Sir, — I have the honor, by the direction of Mr Stafford, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of tho 20th ultimo, respecting the openlag of the port of Hokitika for the importation of cattle. In reply, I am to inform you that a Delegation has been made under an Aot just passed, amending the " Diseased Cattle Act," of 1861, to the Superintendent of Canterbury, which will enable Ills Honor to comply with the prayer of the memorial to which you refer.
