Via Sydney, Nov. 4.

The Sunnyside, which arrived to-day from San Francisco, with a cargo of flour and wheat, brings dates to the 18th of August. Thero was no later news to hand from tho Eastern states, as the telegraph line was down.

The California steamer Brother Jonathan went ashore on the American coast, and became a total wreck. When the steamer Brother Jonathan was lost, 231 persons perished. Tho crops of grain in South America are heavier this year than they were ever known to be before. Wheat was quoted at from Idol 550 to Idol 650, and flour, superfine, at sdol 600 per 100 lb bags.
