LOCAL IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
A special meeting of this committee was held on Tuesday evening, a' the Queenstown Hotel, for tho purpose of considering tendors for the formation of footpaths on Gibson's Quay, the Government subsidising tho committco to the extent of one half of tho amount expended by tho committee. The footpath is to bo soven foot wide, and is to bo completed in twenty days.
Thero wore present Messrs. Hawkoa (ohairman), Palmer, Munro, Bracken, Anderson, Clarke, Beeves, Prossor, Eooleafield.
The following tendors weroreceivod : — James Davey, £14 12a. 6J. per chain ; J. 13. Gillespie, £15 ss. do ; Walter Williams, £18 10a. do j M. Edgar, £15 12a. do.
On tho motion of Mr Prosser, soconded by Mr Clarko tho tender of James Davey was ac« coptcd, and the successful tenderer is to attond at the next meeting of tho committee, this evening, to outer into tho necossary bond."
Messrs Davey and Gillespie's tender fee Wharf -street was also accepted, and they are to attend at the simo time for the purpose of giving secuiity for their contract.
