H, WilliauiH. npHE rapid increase in the business of the X township of Hokitika and the adjoining goldfields, (tho permanence of which is now thoroughly established,) renders it of the utmost importance to the merchants and residents generally on the coast, that there should bo means of communication with tho roadstead as uninterrupted as possible, not only for the landing of passengers but for tho speedy delivery of mails, and the towage of vessels over the bar. It is needless to point to the* fact, that had a powerful steam tug been at ,the fiorvico of the Port a large number of valuablo vessols, and thousands of pounds of cargo could have been saved during the last two months. Without going into statistical details, it will be patent to the mind of every business man in Hokitika, that apart from the immense advantage to the trado of tho district whioh must acorue from proouring a useful vessel, tho speculation will prove highly profitable to tho shareholders. Under theso oircum« Btances it is proposed that on the amount necessary being subscribed, steps will be at once taken to proeuro a vessel suitable for the requirements of tho port, and for tho purpose of suoh purchase, it is proposed to form a company, under the titlo of Tho Hokitika Steam Tug Company, limited, to be registered under the Joint Stock Company's Act, 1860, with a capital of £6000, in 600 shaves of £10 each. It is proposed that tho affairs of tho company shall ho managed by a board of five direotors, to be ohosoa annually by the shareholders, ono of whom shall act as ohairman of the company. Immediately upon one-half of the Bhares being allotted, a moeting of the shareholders will be called, for tho purposo of electing directors, making byolftws, and aviaug}ng tho general business of tho company. Forms of application for Bhares to bo obtained from the Secretary, Mr. J. 11. Williams, at the offices' of Messrs. Henderson and Bonar, Wharfstreet, Hokitika.
