The Jeddo with tho English mail was three days behind time, and would scarcely reach Sydney before the 17th or 18th ; we shall not therefore get tho mail till tho 30th. We take' tho following intelligence from the " Sydney Morning Herald" of the 18<h of July : — GENERAL SUMMARY. Parliament is to be dissolved on 10th July, whon a general election takes place. Gladstone's reduction of tea and incomo tax duties is uiuoh applauded. Lowe's Anti-Reform Speech against encouraging democracy has caused groat sensation. Sir; George Grey replied that Government Would bo guided by public opinion. Tho financial statement of tho Chanoollor of tho Exchequer shewed a surplus of rovenue ovoi. expenditure of L^OOOjOOO sterling. >
On receipt of the news of Lincoln's assassination, a universal feeling of indignation was expressed by all classes. . Lord Palmerston, upon resuming duty after a short illness, was received in the House with loud and enthusiastic cheers. Sir Charles Wood, it is reported, is to be raised to the peerage by the title of Earl of Halifax.
