With 10 pictures before the cameras at present, Paramount studio activity has come to a peak with the largest number of pictures shooting at one time since prior to the war. Recently commenced were: “The Big Haircut,” saga of th e wheat country, starring Alan Ladd, Dorothy Lamour, and Robert Preston; the all-star romantic musical, “Variety Girl,” and “Blaze of Noon,” a drama with an aviation background, with a cast which already includes Sterling Hayden. Sonny Tufts, William Holden, and William Bendix. “Adventur e Island.” the first Pine-Thomas production in colour, will go before the cameras this month. Continuing in production will he: “The Emperor Waltz,” a technicolor production starring Bing Crosbv and Joan Fontaine; “Unconquered,” Cecil B. DeMille’s technicolor epic starring Gary Cooper and Paulette Godard;

“Desert Town," Hal Wallis technicolor drama, with John Hodiak, Liza be th Scott, Burl. Lancaster, and Wendell Corey; Boh Hope’s ‘My Favourite Brunette.” co-starring Dorothy Lamour; “Golden Earrings,” a Ray Mil-land-Marlene Dietrich vehicle; and “Dear Ruth,” starring William Holden and Joan Caulfield.
