CITY OF WELLINGTON TROPHIES

When the City of Wellington Pipe Band returned home on Saturday afternoon its members had every reason to feel pleased with their visit for in the course of becoming champion B grade band and winning the B grade street march, they won a sizeable collection ot trophies. Because the band had to return to Wellington by Saturday night, a special presentation ceremony was made to them on Cook's Gardens on Saturday afternoon. The prizes they received were: Timaru Challenge Cup. awarded to the buna for highest aggregate points for test selection and qtiickstep music and the total highest military points. Manawatu Scottish— Society Challenge Shield, awarded to tlie oand gaming highest point* in lest selection. Alasdair Challenge. Cup awarded to the band gaining highest points in quickstep. Robert Thomson trophy for deportment in selection. Gold medal Io pipe-major of band gaining highest points in selection: Pipe-Major A. Guild. S,.'.er medal to pipe-major ot band gaining second highest musical points m quickstep: Pipe-Major A. Guild. IMPRESSIVE CHURCH PARADE Au impressive church parade lor bandsmen visiting Wanganui fur the pipe band contests, held on Cook’s Gardens on Sunday morning, was attended by about 300 people in addition to the bandsmen. The service was under the auspices of the Ministers’ Association, with the Rev. A. C. McLean giving the address. The Salvation Army Band played the hymns for the service and the pipe bands played “Abide With Me.”
