SATURDAY’S RACE RESULTS

Race meetings at various centres in the North Island on Saturday were held in ideal weather. At Trentham, Sage King, confidently backed, won the Thompson Handicap, and Bruce proved his quality by carrying 9.11 to win the Autumn Handicap. Karachi sprang a mild surprise in the Railway Handicap, and Desert Eox won the St. Leger. At New Plymouth Bramble Song won the Taranaki Cup and the Wanganui-owned Stony Broke scored in the County Welter. The principal event at the Waikato meeting at Te Rapa, the Vercoc Memorial, was won by Iwo Jima.
