PROGENY OF BEAU PERE SOLD IN U.S.A.

San Francisco, Feb. 27. High prices were realised at an auction of Mr« Louis Mayer’s racing stable and progeny of the former New Zealand sire Beau Pere were in keen demand. Stepfather, a colt by Beau Pere, realised 200,000 dollars, and the filly Honeymoon, also by Beau Pere, brought 135,000 dollars. Stepfather is a strong contender for the Santa Anita Handicap, worth 100000 dollars, and is nominated for the big late spring events for three-year-olds—the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Honeymoon is the leading Califor-nia-bred money-winner. She has won 222,000 dollars and is also eligible for the Santa Anita Handicap. The champion mare Busher, winner of 334,035 dollars in stakes, brought 135,000 dollars, while Be Faithful, a five-year-old mare and winner of 95,000 dollars brought 100,000 dollars after spirited bidding. A classy filly, Judy Roe, by Beau Pere, realised 45,000 dollars and the first 20 thoroughbreds sold netted 750.000 dollars.
