VICTORIA LEAGUE

The first council meeting of the year was recently held af» the residence of the president, Mrs. N. R. Bain. Letters of thanks were read from London for the case of foodstuffs and Christmas cakes, which the Wanganui league sent to the personnel of 37 on the staff of the London Victoria League. Also for the cases of children's clothing sent by the league here, assisted by the Women’s Club and V.A. workers of the Wanganui sub-centre of the Red Cross. A cable sent at Christmas time from the Duchess of Devonshire, chairman of the Victoria League. The cable received was as follows:—“Please give to all members in New Zealand greetings from all members of the Victoria League in Britain and best wishes for 1947. We are deeply grateful for your wonderful parcel."
