GOOD PERFORMANCES BY LEADING TEAMS The performances of the three leading teams in winning their games, leaving a tie for first place, was the outstanding feature of the last round of the Wanganui Indoor Bowling Association’s M.U. Cup competition. J. Kirk, M.U. “(last year’s winner) and Cosmopolitan Club (H. Rogerson) tied with 10 points. Fire Brigade (W. W. Brown) is next with 94, then follows Aramoho Druids (P. Thomson) 9, Bishop Lodge (F. Glenny) 8, Trinity Club (I. Fleming) and M.U. (G. Threadgold) and M.U. (J. Johnstone) 7, Power Board (S. Cowley) 64, A.O.F. (R. S. Loader) and Trinity (P. Mailman) 6. Hlyton Lodge 3, and Fire Auxiliary 2. Thirteenth round results: —M.U. (J. Kirk) beat Trinity Club (P. Mailman); Cosmopolitan Club (H. Rogerson) beat M.U. (J. Johnstone), Fire Brigade (W. W. Brown) beat Bishop Lodge (R. Skilton); A.O.F. Lodge (R. S. Loader) beat Fire Brigade Auxiliary (A. Wright); Trinity Club (I. Fleming) lost to M.U. (G. Threadgold); Power Board (S. Cowley) had the bye. The final play-off will take place at the Trinity Club rooms next Thursday, September 3, between M.U. (J Kirk) and Cosmopolitan (H. Rogerson). Wenham Cup. .. The first round of the Wenham Cup competition is to be played on the sudden death knock-out. A fortnight is allowed for the first round, which must be completed on or before September 10. Teams drawn home are mentioned first in each instance in the draw for the first roonu:— Trinity Club (P. Mailman) v. Hylton Lodge (B. Skilton); Aramoho Druids (P. Thomson) v. M.U. (G. Threadgold); Fire Birgade Auxiliary (A. Wright) v. Power Board (S. Cowley'; M.U. (J. Johnstone) v. Trinity Club ,(M. Tremaine); Cosmopolitan Club (H. Rogerson) v. A.O.F. (R. S. Loader); M.U. (J. Kirk) v. Bishop Lodge (F. Glenny). Fire Brigade (W. W. Brown) and Trinity Club (I. Fleming) both have byes but. could play a friendly game. All clubs are reminded to notify the secretary, H. Zinsli, the names of their club champion pairs and singles before September 7. SIGNAL CHALLENGE SHIELD The Wanganui Indoor Bowls Association continued its weekly Signal Challenge Shield matches last night, when Manchester Unity (J. Kirk, skip), retained the shield, defeating Power Board (S. Cowley) by 20 to 14.
