TO START TO-MORROW
NIGHT CREAM COLLECTION The new system of night cream collection arranged by the Okoia Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, will come into operation after the late afternoon milking to-morrow. The chairman of directors, Mr. T. E. Wilson, and the factory manager. Mr. W. P. Jones, addressed meetings of suppliers at Waitotara and Maxwell this week. Farmers were told that the change was necessitated by the need for conserving rubber, and promised their support. The area affected is from Waverley to Waitotara, southward to Maxwell and Kai Iwi, and along the Rapanui Road to the Main North Road as far as the New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill. The only exception is the area between the Westmere Hall and the Westmere School. Some of the crem collected at night will be taken to the Waitotara station and railed to Okoia, but cream collected south of Waitotara will be conveyed to the factory by lorry. The change has been brought about at the instigation of the Transport Department and will save 22,000 running miles annually.
