COLLECTION BY BOY SCOUTS BOOKS AND GAMES IN DEMAND A scheme organised by the Rev. J. H. Datson, C.F., for the establishment ■ ■ of a camp circulating Horary, is; already meeting with considerable. success and a further collection oil books, periodicals and games will be, made in the Wanganui East area to-i day. Last Saturday morning 300 bcoks | and magazines were collected by ten Boy Scouts under District Rover Leader L. G. Culver. This collection was confined to East Town, as far as the railway line. But to-day 25 Scouts will cover’the area between the rail way line and Anzac Parade and up to, but not including Jellicoe Street. Burton Avenue will also be covered. “Last week the collection was most gratifying, for not only was a high total reached, but each bool: or magazine was clean and presentable and in some cases perfectly new, as though it had been bought for the occasion . of presenting to the military camp libraries,” said District Rover Leader Culver. "These gifts have all been classified and parcelled up in the Wanganui East Scout Hall ready for the inauguration of the scheme. “The Scouts are keen on making this book and games collection campaign a first-class success and they are encouraged by the generous support of the public.” "Well done, East Town,” said Padre J. H. Datson, when he learned that 300 books and magazines had been contributed during last Saturday morning. “I did not expect so small, an area to be so generous, but all books will be welcomed and each magazine will be taken care of. The aim is to have these gifts circulate throughout all camps, and I am now engaged in setting up the necessary organisation for keeping the libraries under efficient control.
