“THUMBS UP”
Considered by all who saw it to be a very fine presentation, the “Thumbs Up” patriotic revue presented at the Opera House this week under the direction of the Wanganui Savage Club was an outstanding success. Moving with a swing from start to finish, the performance reflected very creditably on the skill of the producer, Mr. Eddie Martin. It was created to suit all tastes, grave and gay, ana included grand opera music as well as catchy modern melodies. The revue opens with a railway episode, ■ followed by Rubenstein’s “Melody in F,” tapped by snappy tappers in a fashion not intended by the composer. Other popular items are: A topical skit “The Last Drop,” “Wear a Great Big Smile,” “Silver Wings,” “Chong,” “The Gypsy Revel,” a scene from “Carmen,” “Hollywood Stars,” “London To-day,” and g. Dickens scena “The Secrets of an Actor’s Make-up Box.” The final gala performances on Wednesday and Thursday, in the Opera House, should attract capacity houses, and the show prtainly merits it.
