jury’s Verdict of guilty [ Per Press Association.] GISBORNE, March 1. A verdict that Joe Douglas, aged 31, of Wairoa, a Maori, was guilty on two charges of rape and indecent assault, was returned to-day by a Maori jury at a trial before Mr. Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court. The jury retired at 12.39 p.m., returning with its verdict at 2.45 p.m. The prisoner was remanded for sentence.
