NEWSREEL SAGA
"TOO HOT TO HANDLE" The adventures of newsreel photographers in their journeys around the world in search of sensational photos are depicted in a vivid fashion in Melro-Goldwyn-Mayer's entertaining picture, "Too Hot to Handle," whicn will commence a season at the Majestic Theatre at an early date. The story is of absorbing interest and contains many clever comedy touches. Heading the cast are Clark Gable and Myrna Loy, last seen together in "Test Pilot.” Gable appears as Chris Hunter, a newsreel cameraman working in Shanghai during the hostilities between China and Japan. Hunter succeeds in filming many sensational events, although his pictures are not always authentic. His friend and rival (Walter Pidgeon) arranges a scheme whereby a famous woman flier (Myrna Loy) pilots an aeroplane to Shanghai, presumably bringing a serum to the stricken population. Hunter, however, prevents his rival from obtaining photos of the girl landing and eventually the story reaches the public and the three are discredited. Feeling that they are responsible for the incident, the two men assist, the girl in her' efforts to finance an expedition to South America in search of her lost brother. The story continues in an entertaining manner with their journey into the tropical jungle. The starring vehicle for Freddie Bartholomew is called "Eton," and is described by an American writer as "a prep school yarn,” based on life at the famous school. * ¥ * * Jack Buchanan's new picture. "The Gang’s All Here,” is being made at Elstree for Associated British. Besides Buchanan, the cast includes Edward Everett Horton, Otto Kruger and Jack Laßue.
