ORDINATION SERVICE
REV. M. R. PIRANI AT LOWER HUTT St. James’ Church, Lower Hutt, was full for the Ordination of the Rev. M R. Pirani on Sunday last. It was a perfect day and the lovely old church of St. James, with its setting of lawns and gardens, with big shady trees, and cool inviting interior, .made a perfect atmosphere for the service, which was the first ordination that had ever taken place in St. James. The Rt. Rev. T. H. Sprott, D.D., 0.8. E., Emeritus Bishop of Wellington, conducted the sacred service, assisted by the following clergy: Ven, Archdeacon Hansell, of Wellington; Ven. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie, M.A., Feilding; Rev. Canon A. Payne, of Eastbourne; Rev. H. E. K. Fry, M.A., Vicar of Lower Hutt. The procession of clergy and choir led by the Crucifer, entered the church singing the hymn, “Holy, Holy, Holy,” and proceeded to the Chancel. Ven, Archdeacon Petrie preached a most inspiring sermon. The Gospel was read by the Rev. M. R. Pirani. Th service was fully choral, the beautiful singing of a choir of over 40 voices, under the leadership of Mr. H. Brusey, being something to long remember, with the soft tones of the organ as played by Miss Harte, rising and falling throughout. The Rev. M. R. Pirani is the only son of Mrs. E. L. Pirani, of Feilding, and the late Mr. L. J. Firani, and is an old boy of Huntley Preparatory School, Marton, and of the Collegiate School, Wanganui.
