SHORTAGE OF TRICKS
SHIPPING HELD UP. I Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 28. A shortage of rolling stock throughout the North Island is blamed for the lack of railway trucks at New Plymouth where as a result two coastal ships have been unable to work for days while the sailing of the motorvessel Durham Star, which was to have left for Gladstone last night, has been delayed until to-night. Shipping agents to-day expressed concern at the serious position that had arise-n and said that it was general throughout the North Island. A peak demand for trucks was stated by the stationmaster at New Plymouth. Mr. L. H. C. Smith, to be the reason for the position which has effect also on waterside workers who complain that there is not enough work for them to do.
