GARRISON BAND NO COMPLAINTS" - CONDUCTOR S SATISFACTION The Wanganui Garrison Band which was runner-up in the A grade championship and the quickstep competition at the recent New Zealanc brass bands’ contest at Christchurch returned to Wanganui last night bj train and was extended a rousing welcome to the city. The band wot the A grade championship in 193' and last year won the quickstep com petition at the contest at Palmerston North. The Wanganui Highland Pipe Band led by Pipe-Major W. Budge, paraded at the station and played a selection as the train pulled into the platform There was a gathering of severa hundred people at the station, while the footpaths in Taupo Quay anc Victoria Avenue were also lined with spectators. A welcome home was extended tc the conductor, Mr. R. Francis L.R.S.M., and the band, by Mr. W.
