Dr. George Robertson returned to Wanganui yesterday, from Christchurch, where he attended the conference of the British Medical Association.

Mr. J. Siddells, Wanganui, who is recovering in Wellington from an illness, hopes to be present at the next meeting of the Wanganui City Council.

Mr. G. Bennett resumed his seat as a member of the Wanganui City Council, at last night’s meeting, and was welcomed by the Major (Mr. W. J. Rogers), and congratulated on recovery from his recent illness.

Colonel H. B. Jones, C. 8., a retired officer of the Royal Engineers, is a round trip passenger by the Mataroa, which arrived at Auckland on Saturday. This is his second visit to New Zealand.

Mr. D. M. Lethbridge has been appointed to the Wanganui City Council’s Airport Committee to represem the Wanganui Aero Club in succession to Mr. J. R. Franklin, who now lives in Hawke’s Bay.

The Rev. E. B. Chambers, of Invercargill, who has been appointed to succeed Rev. R. Dudley at Trinity Methodist Church, Wanganui, will be taking over his new duties on April 16.

Word has been received in Wanganui that Mr. R. W. McCarthy, who left New Zealand with the first batch of trainees for the R.A.F., England, has passed his final examination with distinction and has accepted a position as pilot-instructor at the School of Navigation, Manston R.A.F. England. Mr. McCarthy is a son of Mrs. McCarthy of Campbell Street, Wanganui, and was educated at the Wanganui East School and the Technical College.

Rev. R. Dudley, of Wanganui, with the approval of the Methodist Conference, is visiting several churches in the South Island. He left Christchurch by air for Dunedin on Monday and later has to visit Gore and Invercargill. From there he will go to Blenheim and Nelson, later returning to Wellington, thence to Hamilton and Auckland. His itinerary has to be finished within a period of 10 days and full use has to be made of air services. He will not be able to return to Wanganui this week, as intended.
