REGENT THEATRE

“DOCTOR RHYTHM” One of O. Henry’s greatest stories. "The Badge of Policeman O'Roon,” is to screen to-day at the Regent Theatre in Paramount's “Doctor Rhythm,” a hilarious musical comedy starring Bing Crosby, Beatrice Lillie and Mary Carlisle. Dr. Bing goes out masquerading as a policeman to help a friend in distress, and is given a life sentence by the girl he is assigned to guard. The associate feature is Paramount’s “Her Husband Lies,” a drama o£ a lie that had to be told, which features Gail Patrick and Ricardo Cortez. The story concerns Cortez, a big-tijne gambler whose wife, Miss Patrick, gives him the alternative of giving up gambling or losing her. He gives her his word that he is through with cards, and the climax arrives when he is forced to go back on his word in order to save his younger brother and square himself with his ertswhile associates. "Her Husband Lies” is the first picture in which Miss Patrick appears in a straight dramatic role. During the five years in which she has appeared in pictures her beauty has been utilised mainly by directors to “decorate” pictures. It wasn’t until she was given the important role of "the other woman” in "John Meade's Lady” that Hollywood realised that she was an accomplished actfess ready to step into the foreground of important pictures.
