SWIMMING

FORDELL CLUB CARNIVAL ON SATURDAY. Good swimming should be witnessed at the Fordeil Swimming Club’s carnival in the Gonville Baths next Saturday, when a number of New Zealand champions will be competing. To speed up the carnival and to make the racing more thrilling the group system of handicapping is being introduced. Thus swimmers of the same calibre will be swimming in the same heats and nearly every race will be a scratch race. Intending patrons are advised to reserve their seats as a record crowd is anticipated. Box plans are now open at McGruer’s Ltd. (men’s department). Arrangements have been made for trams to leave the baths at the conclusion of the carnival for the various suburbs.
