ROAD SAFETY

MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENTS PUBLICITY OFFICER’S VISIT. A meeting of motor-cyclists and those interested in motor-cycling will be held at 5.30 p.m. to-day above Mr. P. Coleman’s shop when the Transport Department’s publicity officer, who is making a tour of the Dominion, will speak on the proposals to place restrictions on the use of motorcycles unless the number of accidents is reduced. Similar meetings have been addressed in many parts of the Dominion by the publicity officer, the object of the Transport Department being to educate the motor-cyclists as to their responsibilities before taking any drastic action. The number of accidents on New Zealand roads inovlving motor-cycles is very high and the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, has expressed his intention of reducing this fixture materially.
