COMPANY FINED £lO FLUME WASHED AWAY THREE TIMES. 1 Per Presn Association.] GREYMOUTH, Feb. 27. In the Magistrates’ Court A. R. Wallis, Limited, of Kopara, was fined £lO for allowing sawdust to flow into the Haupiri River. Defendants were similarly fined in December 1937. On behalf of defendants it was stated that a flume built to carry the sawdust over the river was washed away three times by floods and was replaced twice but it was impossible a third time because of the shortage io. labour.
