“OI!”—This is Lambeth Walk, London street recently made famous by the popular song and dance. Back in 1696 a man named O'Keefe opened pleasure gardens around two wells of reputed medicinal value and a leading amusement was to dance at’the Lambeth Wells. By 1800 the resort gamed such a bad reputation that magistrates refused further licenses and it was closed.
