ROYAL VISIT TO NORTH EAST ENGLAND
MANY UNEMPLOYED THEIR MAJESTIES IMPRESSED WITH WHAT IS BEING DONE LONDON, Feb. 24. The King and Queen returned to London late last night after a visit to the north-east of England. A large crowd assembled to welcome them. In a telegram to Londonderry. Lord-Lieutenant of Durham, the King asked that his warmest thanks be conveyed to the people for their friendly welcome. He added: "We have been glad of the opportunity of seeing what is beng done to assist those suffering great misfortune through unemployment and we came away deeply impressed by the courageous spirit so clearly prevailing even among those who have been for a long period without work, and we should like to send them a message of encouragement and hope for a better time to come.”
